Bob and Frida and travelling friend Yvonne, from Holland, stayed with me in November 2013. On this occasion Bob and Frida are utilising their timeshare at Port Owen, Laaiplek (Velddrif) and about now Yvonne is touring the Garden Route, but soon to venture up the West Coast where hopefully I'll get to see her too. Other than the usual aches and pains (you wouldn't say so to look at him, but Bob turns 80 next year), those two haven't changed a bit and are still such warm and loving people to boot. With their and Yvonne's encouragement I might well 'maak 'n draai' to Cuba via Holland next year. Well, that's my dream, although the way they 'gaaned aan' about Iguazu Falls, situated on a basaltic line spanning the border between Argentina and Brazil, being bigger and better than Vic Falls and, being Zims born, I might have to go there if only to disprove their story (or eat my words). I can't think of anything nicer than drinking jenever gin in a brown house in Holland and chomping on Dutch cheeses, not to mention seeing these good folk once again.

WELCOME BACK!

The motivation to return to the Cape was a family wedding coupled with seeing their dear friend, Trudy, again - and that's how Tony and Pam were back at Dolphin B&B+S/C for a 3-night stay, the previous occasion being in OctobeR 2009. They sure know how to relax and enjoy themselves but, sadly, didn't manage to harvest any white mussels. I made a commitment that next time I will either venture out myself into the breaking surf or point them in the direction of an aquaculture outlet. As the Beatles sang, "Let It Be" cos that water is 11°C - headaching stuff!
Good friends get together

GARY FANE'S CLAIM TO FAME

I wrote about Geert and Lucy w-a-y back in January 2009 when they stayed at Dolphin B&B+S/C and he entertained us with his guitar-playing on the deck. Classically-trained, Gary Fane - as he is known professionally - now plays and records (as his genre reads) electronic, pop and rock - listen to Horoscope on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSKQgeORp6E This wonderful couple once again have just spent 3 nights as my guest and he presented me with a CD of a piece he composed and recorded specially for "Lucille of Dolphin". They will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary next March and from this photo you can sense the respect and deep love they have for each other.

KISSIN' COUSINS

Five years ago I knew only one cousin - on my mother's side. Then in 2011 I met Debbie and her husband, Graham, for the first time. she being one of two daughters of my father's brother. Next came the meeting up with Lindsay, Debbie's sister, and Gerald. (The count has doubled!) They all live in Zims, but travel to South Africa to attend and support children who are very sporting and represent their country. Then suddenly there was Philip calling to say he and Vicky were coming up to meet me and now two weeks ago brother David (pictured) and Thelma popped up (literally, they came to overnight here) and from being an orphan annie I now am surrounded by a whole bunch of kissin' cousins. How wonderful is that?
